The counter-intelligence wing of the Punjab Police has nabbed two more persons allegedly with links to the terror module busted last month, tasked with targeting “anti-Sikh” leaders in the State.
Gurpreet Singh and Simranjit Singh were arrested from their villages of Jiwanwal in Faridkot and Kamalpur in Moga, respectively, on June 21, according to a police spokesperson, who said two .32 bore pistols, four magazines, and cartridges, have been recovered from their possession.
“Investigations have revealed that the Canada-based Gurjeet Cheema, during his visit to India earlier this year, gave two pistols, along with ammunition, to Gurpreet Singh.
The latter passed on one of the pistols to Simranjit Singh for targeting “anti-Panthic” [anti-Sikh] people based in Punjab,” said the spokesperson.
The arrests followed investigations into the case related to the busting of the terrorist module on May 21. “An FIR in this case has been registered under relevant sections of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967 and the investigation was underway,” the spokesperson added.
