Kicking off his second visit to the US in one year with a meeting with eight of the top 10 financial entities in the U.S., including JP Morgan and Blackstone, Modi outlined efforts made during the last 15 months to increase investment in key areas like infrastructure.

6.40 a.m.: Among the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies who attended the dinner were Lockheed Martin chairman and CEO Marillyn Hewson, Ford president and CEO Mark Fields, IBM Chairman Ginni Rometty, Pepsi Co chief Indra Nooyi and Dow Chemicals chairman Andrew Liveris.

Citigroup chairman Michael O’Neill, MasterCard CEO Ajay Banga, Boeing International president Marc Allen, Goldman Sachs president Gary Cohn, Blackstone president Hamilton James, SanDisk co-founder Sanjay Mehrotra, Harman International chairman Dinesh Palatal and Time Inc CEO Joe Ripp were also present on the occasion.

6.30 a.m.: Served on the menu plate of the CEOs were sandalwood saffron sherbet, pomegranate pangria with tandoori pineapple, paneer ravioli, thandai chicken, Mizoram black rice khichdi, saffron sheermal, mango-ginger soup and coconut rice creme brulee.

6.15 a.m.: Mr. Modi lists sectors opened up for investment; invites CEOs to Make in India. The Prime Minister said India is ready to welcome them (CEOs) with both hands and it is the right time for them to come and invest in the world’s largest democratic country.

6.07 a.m.: Mr. Swarup added that Mr. Modi said "FDI all over the world has fallen but in India it increased by 40 percent. This reflects confidence in the Indian economy."

6.05 a.m.: Vikas Swarup tweeted "PM: Reform in governance is my No. 1 priority. We are for simplified procedures, speedy decision making, transparency & accountability".

5.45 a.m. "The PMO tweeted "More discussions on business, investment and the economy during the interaction with leading CEOs.

4.45 a.m. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the top CEOs at an event coordinated by Fortune in New York on Thursday.

Mr. Modi also met Mike Burke, Chairman and CEO of AECOM in New York at the Waldorf Towers Hotel.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met Chairman of the USIBC Ajay Banga during his series of meeting in New York.

After meeting Mr. Modi, Mr. Banga said "At the end of the day no county is perfect, not America not India. Yet we choose where to put our investments."

He said "What India has to do is have more pluses, less minuses, ease of doing business is one of the way, and another is predictability."

Mr. Banga also added "Also discussed the effort to get India to join APEC, which will be good for APEC and India."

After the meeting with Mr. Bloomberg, Mr. Modi met Marillyn Hewson, Chairman of Lock Heed Martin and discussed about the aerospace industry.

4.25 a.m. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met former Mayor of New York City Mike Bloomberg.

It is stated that Mike Bloomberg shared his thoughts on several issues with Mr. Modi during their meeting.

Mr. Modi has assured the global innovative industry that India not just values intellectual property but will also protect it, especially in this era of technology advancement.

During a roundtable at the Waldorf Towers Hotel here on “Media, Technology and Communications — Growth Story for India” with the top representatives of this industry, the prime minister said India was also expanding its bandwidth and infrastructure for technology-based industries to grow and flourish.

“We are committed to protecting IPR (intellectual property rights), that’s essential to fostering creativity,” Modi told during the meeting with the top bosses of companies like News Corp, 21st Century Fox, Sony, Discovery, Time Warner, A&E and VICE Media, representing 40 percent of global industry in this space.

“This is a technology driven era. We are a technology driven society,” he added.

4.15 a.m. Earlier, Mr. Modi held a bilateral meeting with Ralph Gonsalves, the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Island country in the Caribbean.

“Bringing the Caribbean closer. PM @narendramodi meets with PM Ralph Gonsalves of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines,” tweeted external affairs ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an island nation lying within the Lesser Antilles, in the eastern Caribbean Sea. It consists of the island of Saint Vincent and the northern Grenadine Islands.

Earlier, Mr. Modi held a “productive meeting” his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina here discussing bilateral ties.

“Yet another productive meeting with PM Sheikh Hasina. We discussed India-Bangladesh ties,” tweeted Mr. Modi.

This is the third meeting between the two leaders in the recent months and came against the backdrop of settlement of the land boundary question.

“After the business meeting, meeting with a neighbour and valued friend...,” the PMO tweeted along with a photograph of the two leaders shaking hands.

“Dhaka, New Delhi and now New York. PM @narendramodi meets with PM Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh for a bilateral session,” tweeted External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup.
