President Pranab Mukherjee will visit Chennai and Tirupati on a two-day programme beginning Saturday.

In Chennai, the President will attend the valedictory function of the sesquicentennial celebrations of the Madras High Court, and deliver an address at a felicitation function organised by the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday.

Special Correspondent reports from Tirupati:

Mr. Mukherjee will fly into Tirupati on Saturday night and immediately motor up the Tirumala ghat road. He, along with family members, would offer prayers to Lord Venkateswara on Sunday morning.

The President would later inaugurate a massive pilgrim amenities complex — Nandakam — built at Tirumala by the TTD.

He would then visit the TTD’s Veda Pathasala, atop a hillock off the shrine and interact with the young students there.

Later, he would offer prayers to Goddess Padmavathi at Tiruchanur.
