January 21, 2015 01:08 am | Updated November 16, 2021 06:15 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Tuesday said the police will probe the IPL angle in the case related to Sunanda Pushkar’s death in January 2014.

Talking to reporters at the police headquarters, Mr. Bassi said, “former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor was questioned for over three hours on Monday night and he was cooperative during the questioning.”

According to sources, one of the questions that Mr. Tharoor was asked was related to the IPL row that broke in early 2010 when Mr. Tharoor was Minister of State for External Affairs. At that time, there were allegations that he had misused his authority to ensure that Rs. 70 crore, a sum equivalent to 19 per cent equity in IPL Kochi franchise Rendezvous Sports, was paid to Ms. Pushkar.

Ms. Pushakar who was Mr. Tharoor’s friend then had denied any wrongdoing.
