Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for two days on Tuesday morning after paying tributes to former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who died in Shillong on Monday.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day to enable members to pay respects to the former President, but after an all-party meeting convened shortly after the adjournment, it was decided to extend the adjournment till Wednesday, sources said.

The Union Cabinet met soon after and passed a resolution condoling the death of the former President and another condoling the loss of lives in the Gurdaspur terror attack on Monday.
