Tamang murder: charges against GJM leadership

The CBI has been probing the case since 2011

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday brought charges against the entire top leadership of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) including party chief Bimal Gurung in a supplementary charge sheet filed in connection with the murder of All India Gorkha League (AIGL) president Madan Tamang.

The CBI was probing the case since 2011 and during the day its final supplementary charge sheet was submitted before a court in Kolkata.

Other than Mr. Gurung, who is now the chief executive of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GJM), the CBI has named party MLAs elected from the hills, Roshan Giri and Harka Bahadur Chettri, in the charge sheet.

Asha Guring, wife of Mr. Gurung, who heads the women’s wing, along with other party leaders, Pradip Pradhan and Benoy Tamang, have been included in the charge sheet which has 23 names.
