Accusing his wife of adultery, an electrician allegedly slit the throat of their 13-month-old daughter and stabbed his wife multiple times at their residence in Adarsh Nagar in the early hours of Wednesday.

An inebriated Kishan Kumar (27) had woken up the mother-daughter duo from sleep before attacking them. He even held his daughter Sakshi at knifepoint to intimidate the mother Cecelia (26) into revealing the name of the person she was in a relationship with.

This argument was one of the many the couple had been having in the last few months.

At the core of the marital troubles was Kishan’s suspicion that someone else was Sakshi’s father.

“In her statement, his wife told us that post midnight he woke them up and said that he did not believe that Sakshi was his daughter.

“He held a knife on the child’s throat after he inflicted a few injuries upon Cecelia. He kept asking Cecelia about the paternity of the child and threatened that he would slit her throat,” said a senior police officer.

Cecelia kept trying to pacify her husband, insisting she was loyal to him.

“When she tried to raise an alarm, he slit the throat of the girl and attacked Cecelia leaving her to bleed. While the child died on the spot, the injuries on the mother’s body were found to be superficial and not deep but there were at least 20 to 25 wounds on her body,” said the officer. A couple of hours later, Kishan himself made a call to the police control room and called the police admitting to his crime.

A police team rushed the mother and daughter to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital where Sakshi was declared brought dead and Cecelia is currently undergoing treatment.

The man was arrested from the spot.

A case under Section 302 (Murder) and 307 (Attempt to Murder) was registered at the Adarsh Nagar police station.

Kumar from Chhapra and Cecelia from Assam had met each other in Noida a few years ago.

Despite their families opposing because of their different faith, they got married in 2012.

However, in the last few months, their relationship had been under a lot of strain, thus culminating in the murder.

In her statement, the woman also alleged that her husband had a history of abusing her and would often torture her.

Kishan was suspicious that his wife was having an affair with one of his friends
