The clamour around the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme is getting louder even as the government is preparing for a grand announcement on the eve of its first anniversary in office. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to make a formal announcement on the OROP early this week, sources said.

Responding to questions on the issue Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday said Defence Ministry had completed its part and now the ball was in the court of Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) headed by the Prime Minister. “We will keep our promise... It is in the final stage,” he said.
