A day after an Army jawan was held at the Srinagar airport for carrying grenades, another soldier was detained on Tuesday for carrying live ammunition.

Preliminary reports suggest that the soldier, identified as Pandia Raj, was held immediately after live rounds for an INSAS rifle were found in his luggage. The jawan was to board a flight to Delhi. “The jawan has been detained for questioning. The matter is being investigated,” said a police official.

Meanwhile, rifleman Bhupal Mukhia, who was arrested on Monday for carrying two grenades, was granted bail on Tuesday by a local court. Sources said the police had handed him over to the Army.
