The Congress leadership is still not willing to give party MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy permission to resume his tour of Andhra Pradesh, as the first leg of his yatra had sparked off violence across the State. Asked whether the party had had a change of heart, Union Law Minister and general secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh Veerappa Moily told The Hindu categorically, “Our position remains the same.”

Speculation surrounding the possibility of Mr. Reddy starting on his tour from Srikakulam began after it was learnt that his mother – the wife of the former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy – had written to Congress president Sonia Gandhi requesting an audience for her herself and her son.
