Citing the post-mortem report, the Delhi Police on Monday informed the Delhi High Court that Nido Tania, son of an Arunachal Pradesh MLA, died of internal injuries in the brain and lungs.
The autopsy was conducted at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Nineteen-year-old Tania was allegedly thrashed by a group of shopkeepers in a fight triggered by racist remarks allegedly made by an employee of a shop in a South Delhi market on January 29. He died the next day at AIIMS.
Counsel for the Delhi Police submitted the sealed autopsy report to a Division Bench of Justice N.V. Ramana and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw. But, the Bench opened the envelope and read out the summary of the report in the open court.
According to the report, Tania suffered nine internal and external injuries, including in the head, lungs and the face, which caused his death.
Security guidelines
Later, the Bench directed the Centre to file draft guidelines on providing security to northeast people staying in the Capital. It further said it would pass an order on its implementation on Tuesday. The Bench is hearing the matter suo motu.
After submitting the post-mortem report, the police have registered a murder case against the accused.
