The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights on Saturday took cognisance of the case in which a student was allegedly beaten up by three teachers in a Tamil Nadu school on Thursday for disturbing the class by asking for permission to use the toilet. The class 9 boy was also allegedly asked to drink urine.

“We will ask the State Government to look into the incident and in case the allegations are proved correct we will demand that strict action be taken against the teachers. We are shocked at the several cases of abuse of students in our schools that are coming up recently and we demand that parents and teachers be educated about the fact that corporal punishment and abusing the child mentally, physically or emotionally should not be tolerated or practised,’’ said NCPCR Chairperson Shantha Sinha.
