Lauding the leadership and scientists of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the successful test launch of Agni-V, the Vice President, Prime Minister and the Defence Minister congratulated the team associated with the project.
In his message, Vice President Hamid Ansari said the country's scientists have done the nation proud with this “splendid achievement that demonstrates our scientific and technological capabilities.”
Stating that the nation stands together in honouring the scientific community for working tirelessly in the country's endeavour to strengthen its defence and security, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said: “Today's successful Agni-V test launch is another milestone in our quest to add to the credibility of our security and preparedness, and to continuously explore the frontiers of science.”
Describing the maiden test flight as a great moment for India, Defence Minister A.K. Antony called up DRDO Chief V.K. Saraswat and Project Director Avinash Chander immediately after the event and congratulated the entire team for the immaculate success.
The Defence Minister said the achievement was a major milestone in the country's missile programme, and it reminded us of the untiring efforts of numerous unsung DRDO scientists who have worked relentlessly for years together to bring the nation to this threshold.
He also spoke to the former DRDO chief, M. Natarajan, and recalled his contribution to various projects of the organisation.
