On the eve of the fourth anniversary of the 26/11 terrorist attacks on the city, Commissioner of Police Satyapal Singh told journalists here on Sunday that the Mumbai police still faced problems with coastal security.
“There are certain problems with the maintenance of the speedboats available with the police department. We also have problems with manpower but it will be solved soon,” Mr. Singh said.
He said developing preparedness for terror attacks was a dynamic process and the police were improving every day.
“I won’t say that there is no threat to security. Not [just] Mumbai but any city in the world is under the threat of terrorism. We need the support of the people to fight terrorist activities.”
The Mumbai police were in the process of setting up a special cell at the station level to receive intelligence reports about any unlawful activity. Meetings with teachers and principals of more than 400 schools and colleges had been held to set up ‘Mrityunjay Clubs.’
The official said the project to install CCTVs in the city would be initiated by December-end.
