After days of uncertainty, the NDA government finally appointed Mukul Rohatgi the 14th Attorney-General of India.
Senior lawyersHis appointment had appeared doubtful as names of other senior lawyers had been doing the rounds for the post. Complicating matters further, the government went ahead and appointed the Solicitor-General and other law officers in the Supreme Court.
This when Mr. Rohatgi had already given media interviews detailing his plans for a more efficient litigation mechanism. Official

“I have received the official notification from the government. I will join work next week,” Mr. Rohatgi told The Hindu . A towering presence with a booming voice to match, Mr. Rohatgi is known to have an uncanny talent to gauge the mood of the court and turn the odds in his client’s favour.
Mr. Rohatgi, son of A.B. Rohatgi, a former judge of the Delhi High Court, had his legal practice confined to the High Court.
