The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is set to announce its list of candidates for the coming civic polls within two days, its chief Raj Thackeray told his party workers here on Friday.

Written examination

In a novel experiment, the party had conducted a written examination for the aspiring candidates. Mr. Thackeray said the experiment had borne fruit.

“Let me tell you, all of you have done well. I conducted this test to make you read about the functioning of the civic body,” he said.

Field work

“My list is ready. I will announce it in a day or two,” he said, adding that he had given more importance to field work than to the test marks.

An apology

“I have tried to give preference to the party's position-holders,” he said. He apologised to those functionaries whose names had not been included in the list. “I apologise to your family members who may feel that you did not succeed in the exam you sat for,” he said.

“I am not talking to you because I am afraid of rebels. I don't care about it. You all are my people. You are important to me and so I thought you should know what I have gone through, to select the candidates. Please keep loving the party and work for those candidates whose names will be announced,” he said.
