Militants attack poll officials in Kashmir, 1 killed

A polling official was killed and five persons, including two poll officials, wee injured when militants attacked the officials carrying EVMS from Nagbal Polling Station to district headquarters of Shopian in South Kashmir at 7.15 pm on Thursday, official sources told The Hindu .

The attack took place at the end of polling in Anantnag-Pulwama constituency where around 27 % voter turnout was registered despite the near-total boycott of elections in Pulwama didtrict. The voting percentage almost equal that of the 2009 elections.

Brisk polling was reported in Anantnag and Kulgam districts.
