The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) declared results for the ICSE Class X and ISC Class XII exams on Monday. About 98.53% students passed in the ICSE while 96.47% students cleared the ISC examination.
Ananya Maity from Heritage School, Kolkata, topped the ISC examination with 99.5% while Muskan Abdulla Pathan, an OBC candidate, from Hutchings High School, Pune, and Ashwin Rao from St.Pauls English School, Bengaluru, topped the ICSE examination with 99.4%
The pass percentages went up by 0.1 and 0.3 in the ISC and ICSE results respectively. In both examinations, girls have performed better that the boys, said Gerry Arathoon, CEO of the Council.
Region-wise performance
In terms of region-wise performance, the southern region recorded the highest pass percentage in Class XII. The southern and western regions have the highest pass percentage in Class X. Schools located overseas have recorded 100 per cent pass in both examinations.
The Council said it waited for the CBSE’s decision on the moderation policy before declaring its results. “We waited for the Delhi High Court order and then for the CBSE’s stand on the issue before declaring the results and an in-principle decision to scrap moderation policy was taken unanimously by 32 boards,” said Mr. Arathoon.
Learning difficulties
In the ISC exam, 168 candidates with learning difficulties took the exam and 9 candidates obtained above 90%. Out of the 14 visually challenged students, two students obtained above 90%. In the ICSE examination, 915 students with learning difficulties gave the exam and 83 candidates obtained above 90%. Out of the 34 visually challenged students, eight obtained above 90%.
For the first time, the board has also made available a ‘DigiLocker’ facility using which the students will be able to get digitally signed statement of marks and certificates that will help them with their admission process.
Students who want to apply for revaluation will have to do so before June 4 through the council’s website.
A total of 73,633 students from 988 schools had appeared for the ISC examination which was conducted in 50 written subjects of which 16 were Indian languages, five foreign languages and one classical language. A total of 1,75,299 students from 2,106 schools had appeared for the Class X examination which was conducted in 57 written subjects of which 22 are Indian languages, nine foreign languages and one classical language.
