Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the nation through his radio address, Mann Ki Baat.

11.28 a.m.: We have believed in 'sabka sath, sabka vikas'. Specially for our neighbouring countries. India will launch South-Asia Satellite on May 5. It will help South Asia in meeting developmental needs. Be it in natural resources, tele-medicine or education, or IT connectivity, it will help the whole region grow together. This is India's gift to South Asia. This is an example of India's commitment. I will best of luck to all countries.

11.22 a.m.: We will celebrate Budha Purnima soon. His was a journey from war to peace. UN observes Budha Purnima as 'Vesak Day'. This year its being held in Sri Lanka. I will get a chance to pay my tributes this time.

11.19 a.m.: Tomorrow is May 1, it is observed as Labour Day. And when it is a discussion about labourers, we are thankful to Babasaheb Ambedkar for his movements. I am reminded of Jagad Guru Basvesvar. I have often said, "Shramav Jayati." Workers unite the world, said Thengadi.

11.17 a.m.: In India we get to celebrate milleniums. Even today, orthodox thinking suffocates us. Saint Ramanujacharya fought against social inequality, untouchability, caste system. He started temple entry movements. Govt is releasing a stamp in his memory on May 1st.

11.15 a.m.: The red beacon somehow became a symbol of VIP culture. We have to remove this VIP culture from our minds. This is a concept behind New India.

A listener from Madhya Pradesh thanked Mr. Modi for the same.

We should accept EPI — Every person is important.

11.14 a.m.: My young friends, make these holidays about new experiences, new skills and new places. These holidays, make it about new experiences, go out of your comfort zone. Pursue sports in the holidays.

Book an unreserved ticket for 24 hours and travel India, learn about your co-passengers.

Many organisations are involved in social service. Get along with one of those for a few days. Join summer camps, learn and teach skills. You can do it for free. Do some thing out of the box. India is full of diversities. Try learning a language. Go learn swimming or drawing.

Technology has connected this world but it has its ill effects.

Everyone is interested in scoring marks. but it should not deviate from human values. Can we emphasis this under skill development

11.13 a.m.: Temperatures are soaring and there are many do's and don'ts that we can follow. Birds need water too. Children can be asked to keep a tub of water for the birds.

During summers, many people come to our homes — postmen, milkmen, vegetable sellers and so on. We can offer them water (particularly in summers).

A few days back, Mr. Jagat Kinkhabwala wrote to me about his efforts to save the sparrow.

Syedna Sahib, spiritual head of Dawoodi Bohra community started a save sparrow movement and they distributed about 52,000 bird feeders. This record entered the Guinness Book.

11.10 a.m.: May 1 is an important day. I congratulate people of Gujarat and Maharashtra. We must plan and enlist cooperation of one and all. My greetings to Gujarat and Maharashtra.

11.07 a.m.: My suggestions on food wastage got a great approval from you all. There were many success stories. I didn't know that today's youth was  this involved in this mission.

I appreciate initiatives such as Roti Banks and Sabji Banks.

11.02 a.m.: I get to know the strength of the society, its unsung heroes and the problems in the society, when I receive suggestions for Mann ki Baat.

Inputs received for Mann ki Baat are analysed in detail. Most of the ones giving suggestions are the ones contributing to the society. I realise that these suggestions come out of people's experience.
