West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday described Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as an honest person.
“Prime Minister is an honest person. He understands economics,” the Trinamool Congress chief told reporters while announcing her party’s support for UPA presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee.
When pointed out that the state was yet to get any financial package from the Centre, Ms Banerjee replied, “Let’s see what happens.”

Dr. Manmohan Singh's performance as Head of Government is under attack, not his character. India is reeling under spiralling price of commodities. Dr.Manmohan Singh would perform well under dynamic leader, he is not the King. But if Indian people are destined to prosper, they will at any cost.
A wrong statement has been made by Mamta. Yes Prime Minister is not
corrupt but he is not honest. If he is, he should tell people how the
ministers are looting the public money rather than keeping the mouth
shut or dictating already written speeches. So many scams but no one
behind bars.
His only achievement nowadays is that he is clean. Isn't that funny?
