Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday personally reviewed here the site of Wednesday’s International Yoga Day session which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Governor Ram Naik was also present at the site, sporting the official T-shirt of the Yoga Day.
Mr. Adityanath took to social media to promote the event. The PM will be in Lucknow for two days, starting Tuesday.
On the first day of his visit, Mr. Modi is scheduled to inaugurate a new building of the CDRI and also the new campus of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University. After the official programme, the PM will visit 5, Kalidas Marg, the official residence of the UP CM, for dinner. The meeting with Mr. Adityanath assumes significance as it comes at a time when the BJP government in U.P. is nearing its 100-day celebration.
Mr. Modi will stay overnight at the Raj Bhavan.
On Wednesday, June 21, Mr. Modi will attend the third International Yoga Day at the sprawling Ramabai Ambedkar ground here. The session is scheduled to start at 6.30 a.m. and is expected to close just before 8 a.m. The participants, however, are expected to reach the site much before the scheduled start. The entry gate opens after 2 a.m.
Security stepped up
The State police have beefed up security for the PM’s visit, with a large deployment of police force in and around the Ramabai ground. Around 400 CCTV cameras will also monitor the site. Around 51,000-55,000 people are expected to attend the PM’s yoga session in Lucknow.
Apart from this, yoga sessions will be held simultaneously at all district headquarters of the State, local bodies, schools, and public places like parks. LED screens will telecast live the PM’s event at public parks and places in the State capital.
In what was a a rehearsal for the event, yoga guru-cum-entrepreneur Baba Ramdev conducted a yoga session at the Raj Bhavan here recently. The event, organised by the Ayush department of the U.P. government, was attended by scores of official guests, including Mr. Adityanath and Mr. Naik.
This was “the first time” the Governor’s House in Lucknow hosted a yoga event, Mr. Adityanath acknowledged in his short address.
