Left unions to launch nationwide protest against communalism

Accusing the BJP and the Trinamool Congress of spreading communalism in West Bengal, the Left trade unions have decided to launch a “massive” agitation across the country from Saturday against communalism and intolerance.

“The mass organisations of the Left will launch mass agitations from November 14-22 against price rise, communalism, intolerance and reign of terror by the Trinamool Congress,” CPI(M) leader Shyamal Chakraborty said.

Former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will attend the programme on Saturday.

Apart from the fight against communalism, the mass organisations will also fight on issues such as withdrawal of subsidy from agricultural products and attack on artists fighting against intolerance.

Opposition Left Front led by the CPI(M) has decided to organise rallies and small meetings across the State on December 6, 2015 on the anniversary of the demolition of the Babri Masjid.

Lashing out at the BJP for “spreading communalism and intolerance” throughout the country, the CPI(M) leadership had pledged to fight against communalism with all its strength.
