Youth killed in accident; people waylay MLA

A youth riding a motorbike was killed in a head-on collision between his vehicle and a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus at Manjeswaram on Sunday night.

The accident occurred around 8 p.m. B.M. Muneer, 25, who was going to Thalappady from Uppala was killed when his vehicle rammed the bus, which was going to Kasaragod, near Govindapai Memorial College at Manjeswaram, the police said.

Manjeswaram MLA P.B. Abdul Razak who reached the Community Health Centre to see the mortal remains of the youth was waylaid by angry local people protesting against the recurring accidents on the busy Kasaragod-Mangalore route. The MLA was allowed to leave only after he promised stern steps against accidents on the route.

Muneer, employed in a Gulf country, was on a visit home.
