An awareness rally followed by a public meeting marked district-level observance of the World TB Day held at Elanthoor near Kozhencherry on Saturday.
The Health department and the District TB Centre have jointly organised the programme in the forenoon.
District Panchayat president, Babu George, was the chief guest at the function. Ms Sudharma, Elanthoor grama panchayat president, presided over the function.
The District Medical Officer, Laila Divakar, delivered the keynote address. Dr P.N. Vidyadharan, District Programme Manager and Dr Manikantan, District TB Officer, were the moderators of the seminar on ‘TB eradication’ held as part of the TB Day observance.
Dr Kurien Oommen, former District TB Officer, whose decade-long campaign for TB eradication had won accolades of the World Health Organisation for Pathanamthitta district delivered the keynote address at the seminar.
