World Coconut Day

Main function at Vijayawada on September 2

The Coconut Development Board will celebrate World Coconut Day on September 2.

The main function will be held at Vijayawada, with the theme ‘Coconut for Family Nutrition, Health and Wellness.’ September 2 has been declared World Coconut Day by the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community (APCC) headquartered at Jakarta, Indonesia, to coincide with APCC’s foundation day.

 The APCC is an inter-governmental organisation of 18- member countries mandated to promote, coordinate, and harmonise coconut developmental activities of the Asian Pacific region.

All major coconut-growing countries, including India, are members of the APCC.  — Special Correspondent
