Workshop on Kuchipudi begins

An eight-day workshop on Kuchipudi, organised by the Navaneetham Cultural Trust, began here on Wednesday. It is being led by dancer Madhavapeddi Murthy.

The participants will be taught basic lessons in Kuchipudi and introduced to choreography. The workshop is intended for sub-junior, junior and senior dancers.

Son of playback singer Madhavapeddi Satyam, Mr. Murthy has been trained in Kuchipudi by maestro Vempati Chinna Satyam.

He has played major roles in dance-dramas choreographed by his guru. He has performed in festivals such as the Haridas Sangeet Samaroh, Taj Mahotsav, Puri Beach Festival, Malabar Mahotsav, Hampi Utsav, Khajuraho Festival, Ganesh Mahotsav, Purush Festival,Visakha Utsav, Island Festival and the Ellora Festival.
