The paintings and sculptures of a group of young artists of Kunhimangalam village being exhibited here cannot but draw the attention of visitors to issues concerning women.

The exhibition being held at Gandhi Park here from January 28 features paintings and sculptures that capture the artists’ creatively articulated concerns about issues relating to women in contemporary India.

The exhibition has been aptly titled ‘She.’  The works on display at the exhibition include 30 paintings, seven collages, and 12 sculptures, all connected by the theme of the exhibition.

Black and white toned paper and cloth collages done by Plus Two student Anagha and three charcoal works by Vyshakh K. are featured along with the works of Nandana T.V. and Sinisha, who expressed their creativity using water colours to realistically portray nature.

Akash K. and Akshay Mukund used colour pencil for their more abstract works. Sreerag V.V. has experimented with the medium of metal engraving for the artistic reproduction of female characters in some Malayalam poems.

Six acrylic paintings in sepia tone in abstract mode done by A.B. Biju, artistic director of the exhibition, is another attraction of the exhibition.

Twelve sculptures in wax and clay medium are also attracting viewers. The sculptures are done by Sree Priya P.P., Akshay K.P., Sinesh A, and Midhun V.P.

Biju said the exhibition was notable for the use of different media, application, and imagery. The exhibition was inaugurated by a group of mothers on January 28.

It is being held under the aegis of the Village Create School, Kunhimangalam, and will conclude on February 1.
