A newly-wed woman was found hanging in her husband’s house near here under mysterious circumstances in the wee hours on Wednesday.

According to the Thaloyalaparambu police, the body of 25-year-old Jilu was found hanging from the ceiling of her bedroom in the Pullarrakkunnu house in Velloor.

The deceased was the wife of Saleesh, who works in a company in Abu Dhabi. The couple had married three months ago, and Saleesh had returned to his workplace a fortnight ago.

The police said that the death was reported at around 2.45 a.m. The tragedy came to light when her parents-in-law, who were also staying in the house, went to the room in search of her.

The body was later sent to the Kottayam Medical College for post-mortem. The Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) has initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the circumstances that had led to the death.
