The couple who were subjected to ‘moral policing’ by police personnel at the Museum grounds two days ago have announced that they have got married. Sharing an image of a simple post-wedding get-together with friends at Kanakakkunnu on Facebook on Friday morning, S.Vishnu and S.A. Arathy announced the news of their wedding to the world. It was on Facebook that their ordeal at the hands of the police went viral.
The couple did not divulge much details about the wedding ceremony as they are waiting to complete the legal formalities. Talking to The Hindu , Mr.Vishnu said that they had got married in the presence of a close circle of their family and friends.
“We had decided to get married even before the incident, though no date was fixed. Now that things took such a turn, we thought there was no need to delay it further. After the wedding, we got together with friends at Kanakakkunnu to cut a cake. It was a simple affair,” he said.
The police had approached the couple when they were sitting together at the Napier Museum lawns here on Tuesday morning. They were reportedly told that “such vulgar behaviour” was not allowed in public. Vishnu started live streaming of the incident and questioned the police over the legality of their act.
