Water level in Idukki reservoir went up to 2,398.1 ft on Tuesday against the total reservoir capacity of 2,403 ft.
An official of the district control room at Painavu said that the rainfall in Peerumade taluk, where the dam is situated, was the highest in the district on Monday, at 102 mm. Though the rainfall in the taluk on Tuesday was 42.56 mm, there was heavy inflow through the Periyar and other tributaries. The rainfall in the catchment area on Tuesday was 23.4 mm.
Meanwhile, the water level in the Mullaperiyar dam on the upstream of Idukki dam remained low at 122.5 ft with Tamil Nadu drawing the maximum water from it.
