District Collector Kesavendrakumar has announced an aid of Rs.10,000 for the treatment of a tribal youth at Pulpally who was allegedly forced to undergo sterilisation by local government health officials last Friday .

Speaking to mediapersons after attending a meeting of senior officials on Wednesday, Mr. Kesavendrakumar said the government would bear the cost of vasovasostomy (vasectomy reversal) on the youth, Chandran of the Palamoola tribal hamlet, within three months, if he wanted.

He said the district administration was planning to enforce the norms set by the government for the sterilisation of the particularly vulnerable tribespeople of Adiya and Paniya communities in the district. It was also planning to make mandatory the attestation of the tribal development officer and a social activist in the willingness form for family planning of the tribesmen, he said.
