UDF promises health, housing for all

The following are other salient features of the promises made in the manifesto: Production incentive scheme for rubber and cardamom farmers, special schemes for BPL categories, widows and third gender, orphans, and AIDS patients, special pension for those with terminal diseases.

The manifesto promises to make Kerala without any fallow land, industrial estates in panchayats, modernisation package for coir, cashew and handloom sector, interest-free loan up to Rs.20 lakh for young entrepreneurs, housing for all landless people, special mechanism for women protection, and pension scheme for distressed gulf returnees.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy officially released the manifesto, prepared by the UDF subcommittee headed by Congress leader M.M. Hassan.

The other members of the team were K.P.A. Majeed, Johny Nelloor, C.P. John, Joy Abraham, Verghese George, and N.K. Premachandran.
