Traffic curbs in city

From 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow

Traffic restrictions will be in place in various parts of the city on Saturday in view of the cultural pageantry that will mark the conclusion of the Onam celebrations.

The arrangements, which will come into effect from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., include strict restrictions on parking along the main thoroughfares. Besides, goods-laden heavy vehicles will be permitted to enter the city from 12 p.m.

Vehicles headed for Thampanoor or East Fort from the MC Road will be required to proceed along Mannanthala, Kudappanakunnu, Peroorkada, Pippinmoodu, Sasthamangalam, Edapazhanji, and the Thycaud flyover. Those entering the city from the National Highway must proceed along Ulloor, Government Medical College, Kannammoola, General Hospital, Underpass, Bakery Junction, flyover, and Panavila.

Vehicles coming from the Nedumangad direction must pass by Peroorkada, Pippinmoodu, Sasthamangalam, Edapazhanji, Vazhuthacaud, Xanadu, and Panavila. Those coming from the Neyyattinkara direction and are headed for East Fort must proceed along Kaimanam, Maruthoorkadavu, Kalady, Chiramukku, and Manacaud. Likewise, those headed for Thampanoor must pass through Karamana, Kunjalumoodu, Poojappura, DPI junction, Xanadu, and Panavila.

Motorists who are headed for the National Highway from Thampanoor will be required to go along Panavila, Bakery junction, flyover, underpass, General Hospital, and Pettah. Vehicles headed for Nedumangad must take the route along Bakery junction, Vazhuthacaud, Edapazhanji, Sasthamangalam, Pippinmoodu, and Peroorkada.

Parking will be prohibited along the Raj Bhavan-Akkamma Cherian statue-Devaswom Board-Nanthancode-Nalanda-PMG-GV Raja and VJT-Aasan Square-PMG stretches. Parking will also not be permitted at Kowdiar, Vellayambalam, Palayam, Statue, Ayurveda College junction, East Fort road, Overbridge, Thampanoor, Choorakattu Palayam, Killipalam, and Attakulangara.

Parking spots

The spots that have been designated for parking vehicles are the university office compound, Sanskrit College compound, Women’s College compound, Poojappura LBS compound, Tagore Theatre compound, Kerala Water Authority compound, St. Joseph’s School compound, Thycaud Police Ground, Government Arts College compound, Swathi Tirunal College of music compound, SMV School compound, Attakulangara Central School compound, Fort High School compound, Attukal Devi temple parking ground, Putharikandam ground parking area, Pettah Girls High School parking ground, Pettah Boys School parking ground, and Salvation Army School.
