Tipper runs over school kids

Three primary school students were killed and two injured when a tipper lorry went out of control and ran into their midst while the children were on their way back home from school at Edappon of Nooranad near Mavelikara here on Wednesday.

According to the Nooranad Police, Aswathi, Megha and Srilakshmi were Class Four students of Vivekananda School, Edappon, who were caught under the wheels of the sand-laden lorry and lost their lives on the spot around 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Two of their schoolmates sustained injuries and were shifted to hospital.

The driver of the lorry has been taken into custody.
