Thrissur to be Wi-Fi city

M.O. Road becomes ‘smart’

The city Corporation has initiated steps to turn Thrissur a Wi-Fi city. Tourism. Cooperation Minister A.C. Moideen will make the official declaration of the Wi-Fi city.

As the initial step, the M.O. Road in front of the city Corporation head quarters has become the first smart road in the city.

There are three Wi-Fi spots provided in the 150-metre stretch of the M.O. Road. Each spot could provide service up to 50 metres. The facility was set up as a trial run of the process to make city totally Wi-Fi.

The installation of the Wi-Fi spots in major areas in the city will be completed by June 29.

Discussing the master plan for the Corporation, Mayor Ajitha Jayarajan said the civic body was planning a development by protecting the cultural heritage of the city. “A city like Thrissur can grow only by incorporating tradition with modern facilities, “she said.
