The Hindu is bringing out an elegantly crafted book on the Sreekrishna temple at Guruvayur, a major shrine in India dedicated to Lord Krishna.

Guruvayur Devaswom chairman T.V. Chandramohan would release the book, Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple: A Soul-Nourishing Pilgrimage, by handing over a copy to Tantri P.C. Narayanan Namboodiripad at a function at the East Nada of the temple at 9.30 a.m. on Friday.

The book records the myths and legends surrounding Guruvayur and how the temple has inspired poets such as Melpathur Narayana Bhattathiri and Poonthanam Namboodiri to create masterly works in Sanskrit and Malayalam. Priced at Rs.120 and printed ensuring quality, the book carries more than 50 photographs, including rare ones from The Hindu ’s photo archives. — Special Correspondent
