The State government on Friday posted Inspector-General of Police Tomin Thachankary as managing director of the Kerala State Cooperative Marketing Federation Limited (Marketfed).

The government had suspended Mr. Thachankary from service last year on the charge of travelling to the Gulf without its prior permission.

Almost simultaneously, the National Investigation Agency, on the basis of a letter sent by an official of one of the Indian Embassies in the Gulf, initiated an inquiry against Mr. Thachankary on the charge of having met fundamentalists and persons wanted in terrorist cases during his foreign visit.

In July, the government re-instated Mr. Thachankary after it received a communication from the NIA that the IPS officer's re-instatement or possible posting would have no bearing on its inquiry against him. Mr. Thanchankary was without a post till now.
