“The right to live is the biggest human right and hence the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T.P. Chandrashekharan was a human rights violation of the highest order,” said Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran.

At the State convention of the Aided Higher Secondary Teachers Association here on Sunday, Mr. Sudheeran ridiculed CPI(M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan’s allegation of conspiracy behind the shifting of T.P murder convicts and the human rights violation involved in beating them up. “Considering what they did to Chandrasekharan, this is a minor inconvenience,” Mr. Sudheeran added.

The leader had earlier met K.K. Rema, Chandrasekharan’s wife, who is headed to Thiruvananthapuram to start her indefinite hunger strike demanding a CBI inquiry in the TP murder case.

“The government should not have allowed the situation to come to this. At least now, the State government should expedite the process of requesting a CBI inquiry in the case and prevent the hunger strike,” Mr. Sudheeran said.

“No more political murders should take place in this State. T.P. Chandrasekharan’s should be the last. All those who murdered him are now behind the bars. But so many who conspired are still walking free. They should also be brought before the law,” Mr. Sudheeran said.
