Student found dead

The body of a B.Pharm student at the School of Medical Education (SME) at Mahatma Gandhi University was found hanging in her hostel room by her hostel mates on Monday afternoon.

Ettumanur police said Navya, 20, daughter of Vinod of Padiyattu House, Kodungalloor, had joined the B.Pharm course after discontinuing her BSc Maths programme at KKTM Government College, Kodungallur.

She had been complaining of difficulty in getting accustomed to the new programme and had suffered setback in internal examinations.

The police said she was facing depression and came back from her house on Monday morning. She did not attended classes and had told her friends that she was not feeling well. The students who came back by 11.30 a.m. found her doors closed. They found the girl hanging inside the room through the window.

The body is kept at the mortuary of Kottayam Government Medical College Hospital.
