Stress on long-term projects for Wayanad

Planning Board Vice Chairman V.K. Ramachandran has said that the government would give top priority to the comprehensive development of Wayanad district while drafting projects for the next five year plan. Addressing a meeting of senior officials of various departments and people’s representatives in the district here on Saturday, Dr. Ramachandran said that long-term projects were the need of the hour to address the issues of tribesmen and other marginalised sections of society. Innovative projects submitted by various departments in the district would be considered for policy formation with deserving importance, he said.

More projects and funds were needed for the development of farming and dairy sectors, Dr. Ramachandran said adding that special focus would be given to improve the efficiency of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University for the betterment of dairy farmers in the district. District panchayat vice president P.K. Asmath, Additional District Magistrate K.M. Raju, Wayanad Sub Collector Sreeram Sambasiva Rao, people’s representatives, and others attended the meeting.
