The Union government will take all possible steps to strengthen the investigation mechanism of the police through hi-tech facilities and this will help officer to effectively combat the rising number of crimes in cyberspace, Union Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran has said.
He was speaking after inaugurating a district-level representatives' meet of the Kerala Police Association here on Thursday.
Mr. Ramachandran said a total revival of the police was crucial in view of the drastic changes in the new age. The police force should be extended proper training in using hi-tech resources.
Mr. Ramachandran said the Union government was trying to fill over five lakh vacancies in the Police Department to strengthen the force. He asserted that the Centre was ready to accept all reasonable demands of police officers for better prospects of the department.
The government will introduce some innovative schemes to lessen the stress on police personnel who work in complex surroundings. “A preliminary discussion on the matter with the Kerala Chief Minister is over,” he added.
The Minister affirmed that the government would seriously take up the proposal of Kerala for an India Reserve Battalion. “The issues of coastal police too will be considered seriously,” he said.
Kerala Police Association district president P. Shahul Hameed presided over the meeting. Association leaders G.R. Abhijith, P.T. Sasidharan, T. Abdulla Koya, C. Vinayakan, and E. Jayarajan were present.
