State horticulture awards announced

Anju Thomas, a student of the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Rajakumary, Idukki, has won the State horticulture award for the best student. Mohammed Shadil, Najath Public School, Malappuram, emerged second and Anto Philip, Government UPS, Cherthala, came third.

The awards were announced by Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunil Kumar here on Wednesday. The award for the best teacher has gone to Jolly Mathew, Sacred Heart UP School, Kozhikode. Father Joy Kattiyangal, St. Mary’s HSS, Kidangoor, won the award for the second best teacher while Sajeev K.B, HSA, GHSS, and T.T. Pius, Vanivilasam UPS, Padoor, Thrissur, shared the third prize.

The following are the awards in other categories: Head of the institution - First prize: Liji Varghese, Headmistress, Holy Queen’s UPS, Rajakumary, Idukki; Second prize: Chandramathi K.K, Principal, GVHSS, Vaikom; Third prize: T.E.James, Principal, Islamic VHSS, Orumanayur, Chavakad.

School - First prize: St. Paul’s Public School, Kuriyachira, Thrissur; Second prize: Indira Gandhi Memorial Model School, Veliyankode, Malappuram; Third prize: Holy Family International School, Vazhoor, Kottayam.

To be given away

Awards were announced for Assistant Directors, Agricultural Officers and Agricultural Assistants also.

Prizes would be give away to the winners at a function to be held at Thrissur on July 1.
