Solar power plant set up at I-T office

Setting an example for other establishments, a 15 kW solar power plant was commissioned at the Income Tax office at Vidyanagar here on Thursday.

The plant is designed to generate 20,520 units (kWh) annually which will work out to be 60 units (kWh) daily.

The office consumes 40-45 units a day and the remaining 15 units would be fed to the electricity grid, P.R. Ravi Kumar, Principal Chief Commissioner, Income Tax Kerala circle, said, commissioning the power plant atop the I-T office building. The office can generate an additional 456 units (kWh) for feeding the power grid, he said.
