The Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by ADGP A. Hemachandran investigating the solar scam filed a charge sheet before the Judicial First Class Magistrate-II (JFMC-II) here on Friday evening in connection with a cheating case filed by R. Sreedharan Nair of Konni against Saritha S. Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan.
The charge sheet was filed by B. Prasannan Nair, Deputy Superintendent of Police, who is a member of the SIT.
In his petition filed before the magistrate here on June 12, Mr. Nair alleged that Saritha S. Nair, alias Lakshmi Nair S., 35, and Biju Radhakrishnan, alias R.B. Nair, 38, had cheated him of Rs.40 lakh promising to set up a 3-MW solar power plant at his industrial unit in Palakkad. Mr. Nair’s statement in the petition that the accused had taken him to the Chief Minister’s Office in Thiruvananthapuram and had held talks with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and other office staff had kicked up a huge controversy. The part pertaining to his meeting with the Chief Minister had been included in the petition as an insertion.
VS’s plea
In another development on Friday, the JFMC-II here has posted a writ petition filed by Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan, seeking a copy of Mr. Nair’s statement, for further hearing to October 28.
In his writ petition filed two days ago, Mr. Achuthanandan had sought a copy of the FIR prepared by the police in connection with the cheating case.
