March 30, 2011 09:13 pm | Updated 09:13 pm IST - Thiruvananthapuram

Thalekunnil Basheer, acting president of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), on Wednesday served show-cause notice on the former Minister K.K. Ramachandran on charges of having made allegations against Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala and All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi's office.

In a statement here, Mr. Basheer said Mr. Ramachandran had been asked to show cause why action should not be taken against him for raising accusations that would bring disrepute to the party and tarnish its image. The former MLA from Kalpetta has been asked to submit his explanation within seven days. In the event of failure to give an explanation, the party would take suitable action, he said.
