Rs.40 lakh revenue from Adavi coracle ride last year

The Tourism Department would sanction Rs.1 crore for the Adavi-Gavi ecotourism projects, Tourism Minister A.P. Anil Kumar has said. The Minister was inaugurating the Adavi ecotourism fest at Mundommoozhy, near Konni, on Friday.

Mr. Anil Kumar said Konni had been witnessing a steady flow of tourists from different across the State ever since the launch of various ecotourism projects.

He said the government was giving more importance for the people’s own tourism projects in the State.

He said the coracle ride at Kallar has got immense tourism potential. The Tourism Minister and Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash jointly launched the package tour linking Adavi and Gavi by handing over the key of the specially designed buses to the Divisional Forest Officer T. Pradeepkumar. Both the Ministers, accompanied by Anto Antony, MP, took a coracle ride in Kallar.

Mr. Prakash said the coracle ride at Adavi had earned revenue to the tune of Rs.40 lakh in the past one year. He said Rs.36-lakh revenue collection had been recorded at the Elephant Camp as entry ticket sale during the past one year.

R. Haridas Edathitta, district panchayat president; S. Harikishore, District Collector; S. Janardhanan, Ranni DFO; and Varghese Punnen, DTPC secretary, also spoke.
