Revenue officials has relaunched the eviction of encroachments in Munnar and nearby areas of Idukki without waiting for the all-party meeting on May 7 for guidance.
A major encroachment at Amakkal, near Ramakkalmedu, in Udumbanchola taluk was evicted on Saturday.
The encroachment was on a purambokku land close to the border with Tamil Nadu. Tapioca cultivation on 1.5 acres of the encroached land was removed and a homestay on the property sealed.
The revenue team comprised Parathode village officer O.K. Anilkumar and assistant village officers T.A. Pradeep and T.Sunilkumar. Members of the Land Protection Force accompanied the team, which reached the spot around 9.30 a.m.
An official said they were yet to get details of those who encroached on the land.
There was no one at the site when the revenue team reached the spot, he said and added that the department had ordered an inquiry.
The revenue team would give a report to senior officers to initiate action against the encroachers. A case will also be taken against the encroachers for trespassing on government land and making constructions there.
