Rape of minor girl: relative found guilty

: In a case of rape of a minor girl by her relatives, the District and Sessions Court at Thalassery on Monday found her uncle guilty and acquitted her father.

District and Sessions judge V. Shercy found one of the two uncles of the victim guilty of the charges of sexual abuse of the minor girl hailing from Dharmadam, near Thalassery. Another uncle who is accused in the case had approached the High Court during the trial. The sexual abuse case against the victim's brother, also a minor, is being heard in the Juvenile Court.

The judge will pass the sentence on the guilty on March 31.

The case of rape of 13-year-old girl in Dharmadam was registered at the Dharmadam police station in November 2012.
