Short-distance commuters, especially office-goers, workers and students, using the season tickets will be the worst hit in the State by the fuel-component linked revision of fares announced by Railways.
Quarterly season ticket fares will be 2.7 times the monthly season ticket fares, as per the Commercial Circular 26 issued by the Director, Passenger Marketing, Railway Board, Vikram Singh to the General Manager, Commercial and Zonal Railways, on Friday.
Monthly second-class season ticket fares will now be charged on the basis of 30 single journeys against the present 15 single journeys at the revised rate.
Monthly first class season ticket fares will be four times the second class season ticket charges.
It is learnt that season tickets beyond 150 km will be issued only over sections where this facility was being enjoyed prior to April 1951.
