Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president M.M. Hassan on Saturday called for extending the probe into the murder of National Development Front (NDF) worker Mohammad Fazal at Thalasery in 2006 to the recent disclosure of a former police officer that the then Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had directly asked him to stop the probe when the police zeroed in on local CPI(M) leaders.

Speaking at a press conference here, Mr. Hassan said former Deputy Superintendent of Police K. Radhakrishnan’s disclosure should be probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) along with Fazal murder case, which is being investigated by the Central agency.

He demanded that the cases of murder of BJP worker and advocate Valsaraja Kurup and Panchara Shinil be reinvestigated. Mr. Radhakrishnan had disclosed that Kurup and Shinil had been killed after they had given him vital information relating to the murder of Fazal.

Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala demanded, in the capital, an inquiry into the disclosure.

BJP demands CBI probe

BJP Kannur district president P. Sathyaprakash demanded that the CBI be asked to reinvestigate the Valsaraja and Shinil murder cases in the wake of the latest disclosure. BJP State president Kummanam Rajasekharan demanded in the State capital that the government interrogate Mr. Balakrishnan in the wake of the DySP’s allegations.
